Job Offer Letter
A written offer of a job, with the title, pay, start date, and basic terms.
Good for: Employers who are hiring and want the main terms in writing before the person starts.
Before you sign
- An offer letter is not a full employment contract. Do not promise a job for any length of time unless you mean to.
- Say whether the job is at-will in a way your state allows. The state tips on the last step cover your state.
- Make the offer depend on anything you need, such as a background check or proof the person may work in the country.
What this is not
These are standard forms for you to fill in, plus plain-language information. This is not legal advice and this site is not a law firm. We do not file anything for you or check your answers. Rules differ from state to state, so read the finished form before you sign it.
